You Do Not Love Me and I Cannot Love You

You ask me to open up to you

But would you ask a bud to bloom?

I’d grow without ceasing if my heart had the room.

You ask me to be honest with you

But would you ask a child for the truth?

I’d say all I could if my tongue knew what to do.

You ask  me to try to love you

But these things I know to be true:

You do not love me and I cannot love you.
